Long summer days bring a slower pace for families and more free time to seek new experiences! When you make your summer bucket list, make sure a visit to Round Rock, Texas is at the top! Round Rock, TX is one of the fastest-growing cities in one of the fastest-growing states. Located just north of Austin, there are few places more perfectly situated for family-friendly summer fun. But don’t just take our word for it. Have a look at what Round Rock has to offer in the list below.

Dive Into Summer at Kalahari Resort
Nothing screams summer like a waterpark, and there aren’t many waterparks as all-inclusive as Kalahari Resort. As the name suggests, this isn’t just a park where you can find tunneled water slides, lazy rivers, and basketball pools—though you most certainly can, and in abundance. You can also spend the night in one of its luxurious suites, enjoy world-class dining at one of its restaurants, and even relax at a 21+ swim-up bar like Kalahari’s unique indoor grotto.

Slide Into Home at Dell Diamond
Not too many cities can claim to have their own Minor League Baseball team. Since Minor League teams are based in smaller cities, there’s a tighter sense of community around the team. You can experience that for yourself by watching the Round Rock Express, Triple-A affiliate to the Texas Rangers, at their very own stadium, Dell Diamond. But baseball isn’t the only reason to visit. In the aptly titled Fun Zone, kids can enjoy inflatables, a 26-foot rock wall, a train-themed playground, and more!

Take a Stroll in Downtown Round Rock
If you’re looking for Round Rock’s downtown area, just look to the sky for the iconic water tower. In this cultural center, you’ll find quaint shops and crafted local dining. At Prete Plaza, the kids can beat the heat by hitting the splash pad, then the whole family can take in a free concert on Wednesday nights. Come July, Round Rock’s patriotic spirit will be on full display with its annual 4th of July parade.

Old Settlers Park: Fishing, Disc Golf, and So Much More
Though Round Rock has many parks, Old Settlers Park stands alone with its 645 acres of d\isc golf, cricket, softball, tennis, football fields, and much more. For the fishing fans, the park is home to Bright Lake, which carries bass, catfish, and perch. It’s no wonder Round Rock is known as the Sports Capital of Texas. But wait, there’s more! Remote-controlled airplane enthusiasts will be pleased to know the park has its very own take-off and landing strip.

Donuts the Size of Your Head at Round Rock Donuts
Songbirds are nice and all, but if you really want something to lure you out of bed in the morning, look no further than Round Rock Donuts. This purveyor of pastries has been serving the Round Rock area since 1926 and isn’t slowing down. If you’re feeling adventurous, we recommend trying their Texas Sized Donut, which comes in glazed, chocolate, or half-glazed and half-chocolate. As the name suggests, you’re going to need a coffee cauldron if you want to do any dipping with this behemoth.

Swing Big at Forest Creek Golf Club
If you need an excuse to get outside in the beautiful Texas weather, the golf courses in Round Rock are more than happy to oblige. One of our favorites is the Forest Creek Golf Club, a state-of-the-art par-72 course with an extensive practice facility and Player Grill. For the kids, the club even hosts the PGA Junior League, which includes weeks of practice sessions followed by a series of matches.

Get Yourself Something Nice at Round Rock Premium Outlets
There’s no better palate cleanser on a busy day of summer shenanigans than some good ol’ fashioned shopping. And any local will tell you there’s no better place to get in some serious shopping than the Round Rock Premium Outlets. It’s here you’ll find 125 name-brand outlets brought together by a series of magnificent courtyards. Mark your calendars for National Outlet Shopping Day in June. The outlets will be celebrating with discounts, giveaways, and activities for the kids!

Get the Scoop on the Buzzworthy Round Rock Honey
In recent years, consumers have become more interested in where their food comes from, and rightfully so. Buying local is not only a great way to make sure your food is minimally processed, but also to support the community. That brings us to Round Rock Honey, a local business whose product comes straight from the hive to your table. To deepen the relationships between business and consumer even further, they offer tours of their honey house and even beekeeping classes!

Bass Pro Shops Outdoor World: The Great Outdoors Meets the Great Indoors
What’s a summer vacation without a trip to Bass Pro Shops Outdoor World? Before you tackle any camping trips, water sports, or outdoor activities of any kind, you’re going to need to stock up on clothing and supplies. The 120,000-square-foot store in Round Rock carries a mind-boggling amount of merchandise, as well as a museum, aquarium, and art gallery. While you’re there, grab lunch and bowl beneath the sea at Uncle Buck’s Fishbowl & Grill, a unique, nautical-themed bowling alley located inside the store!

Meet the Original “Round Rock”
Believe it or not, Round Rock isn’t just a pretty name. Way back in 1851, the first rumblings of a city began to emerge on the banks of Brushy Creek. In the middle of the creek, there was a round rock that marked a low point in the water perfect for crossing. This round rock was so pivotal to Native Americans and settlers that it was forever immortalized as the name of the town. These days, you can visit the original Round Rock and its nearby historical marker to pay homage to the city’s unique history.

A Summer Vacation Spot for the Whole Family
As you can probably tell, Round Rock is a bustling small town filled with summer fun. Whether you’re looking to spend a whole week or want a more bite-sized experience, Round Rock has you covered with a top-of-the-line golf club, all-inclusive water park, a modern baseball stadium, Texas Sized Donuts and much more. If you’re looking for a place to rest your head in between the fun, book a room at a local boutique like The Ruby or one of our cozy hotels!

Every camp aims to develop the complete player by emphasizing physical, mental and leadership skill sets.

The safety of participants and staff at Express Camps remains the top priority. Each camp will be limited in numbers with campers split into small groups based on age that will remain consistent for the duration of each camp. Each group will have two dedicated coaches that will stay with that group for the duration of camp. Campers will not participate in games or scrimmages with other groups.

Ceramic painting, the most popular activity, enables both young and young-at-heart artists to choose a decorative ceramic item and paint it to their heart’s desire. Leave it behind for glazing and firing and return later to pick up your masterpiece.

In glass fusing, artists create a glass design by arranging and gluing glass pieces together. It’s also left for glazing and firing, creating a stunning finished product. For a same-day result, opt for canvas painting, a satisfying activity that just might reveal the family’s next Van Gogh. Ceramic Lodge is open seven days a week.

Head for the bowling alley, (special shoes NOT required!), or try your luck at the Atomic Rush game, where you’ve got 60 seconds to respond to LED-lit stimuli.

Refuel and refresh at the onsite Stella’s Kitchen and Café, then head back for more monstrous fun!

This Austin-based restaurant focuses on quality and offers fresh-cut original fries or delicious crinkle-cut chili cheese fries. We know where we are going for lunch!

For only $2.05, enjoy P.Terry’s fabulous french fries! P.Terry believes in authentic ingredients that do not take away from the original flavor. So, their fries are cooked in canola oil so that customers can “taste the potato-like it was intended to taste, like a real potato.” Make sure to stop at P.Terry’s this National French Fry day for some fresh french fries!

We hope you have a fry-tastic time during your stay in Round Rock! If you’re looking for a sugary treat after you fill up on fries, check out these sweet spots in our city.

If you know Texas, you know we don’t do anything halfway—especially when it comes to celebrations! Round Rock goes all out for Independence Day and we throw a Texas-sized bash. From a grand parade to non-stop festivities, we’re pulling out all the stops. We’ve lined up a day packed with fun, freedom, and fireworks. Red, white, and YOU belong in Round Rock this 4th of July!

Sertoma Independence Day Parade

Start your morning off with a bang and watch the Sertoma Independence Day Parade! The parade starts at 8:30 AM and weaves through a 1.5-mile route along Mays Street between Mays Crossing and Highway 79. Prepare to “ooh and aah” as massive helium and cold air inflatables float by. There are marching bands, floats, community groups, and patriotism galore!

Splash into Fun at Rock’N River Water Park

After all the parade excitement, you’ll probably need to cool off—and what better place than Rock’N River Water Park? Dive into the perfect summer oasis where family fun is the focus! With splash pads, exhilarating slides, and a lazy river for ultimate relaxation! It’s the ideal spot to chill out and keep the good times rolling!

End the night with An Epic firework Show

Did the Fourth of July even happen if you didn’t see a fireworks show? It’s the moment you’ve been waiting for—the dazzling display of lights! The main event, hosted by the city, will illuminate the night at Old Settlers Park starting at dusk. If you’re looking for a different vibe check out the Kalahari Kaboom event starting 6 pm-10 pm! Enjoy food, bounce houses, entertainment, and, of course, a spectacular fireworks show.

Pro Tips for a Fantastic Fourth

  1. Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate: Texas heat is no joke. Keep that water bottle full and handy.
  2. Sunblock and hats are your best friends: Protect your skin while soaking up the fun.
  3. Strategize your spots: Check event schedules and snag your spots early—especially for the parade (people get there early for a front-row view).
  4. Snap a selfie: Capture those moments, and make sure to tag us at @goroundrock on social media. We love to see your photos!
